My personal view of Kemetic Orthodoxy
I feel at home with Kemetic Orthodoxy - I was not raised in a religious home, so feeling okay with religion at all can be a bit of a struggle. However, I have found my spiritual home, for now.
I think this is connected to how we don't follow scripture, for one. I'm very liberal and I always base my view of the world on personal experience, rarely through dogma. Here, I can implement that, spiritually. Based on my experiences and my relationship with Netjer, I can grow.
Another thing that appealed to me is the fluid nature of ma'at. I, as an indivudual, need to establish what I find to be within ma'at in my life. There is no absolute truth about what is ma'at in different situations. It's up to you to act after your heart.
Thirdly, this faith is not based on submission. I don't mean to offend, but I could never deal with a religion in which "everything is in the hands of God" or you constantly need to submit yourself to the mercy of a Deity, Who microgoverns your entire life. I'm a huge fan of personal responsibility, and that's a big component in Kemetic Orthodoxy.
