Shrines, altars & Senut
As kemetic orthodox, we perform Senut - a devotional rite, if you will. You're supposed to do it once a day, but to be honest, not all of us are that good. ;) Some of us do it once a week, and just leave offerings & say prayers in our shrines every day (Senut is a little more proper & complicated than that). It's up to the individual, but Senut is encouraged to be a daily ritual, for spiritual discipline. (There are times when you're "excused" from doing Senut, like when you're injured.)
Our shrines or altars are where we perform Senut - our sacred place where we meditate, pray, and leave offerings. They come in all shapes and sizes, some are portable, some have a fixed spot in our homes. They can be simple or richly decorated, have statues or have none at all. Some have little "cupboards" to keep their statues in. It's all a matter of personal taste. :)
Tools of trade
So what does a typical altar consist of? Well, usually a white cloth, a light of some kind, offering bowls, a jug of water, natron or ordinary salt, and some incense, oil or flowers.
