Hymn to Bast-Ra as the Great Cat Praise the Great Cat, kissing the ground before Ra the Great God! O peaceful one Who turns to peace, You have shown me darkness for that which I have done. Make light for me so I can see Your beauty. Turn to me, Peace-loving one Who knows forgiveness. May You give me life, prosperity and health.

The Unknown One Bast, I do not know you, and I've often wondered Who You are. Great Lady, Patroness of Cats, Sexual Love and Fine Things, I wish I knew you. Feeling sad, I lay in my bed and am joined by my 2 kittens. Their warm fuzzy bodies purring loudly, And I feel a breath upon my cheek, And She says "I've been here all along"

Who is Bast? Bast is revealed in the words of Her children When even seeming nonsense proves profound. She is present in the sun's healing rays, The glowing warmth after the storm. She is there in the rhythm of motion and sound, But there is no more fanciful dance than Her whim, No brighter music than Her laughter. For She alone knows the joke -- The answer will be shown in time When we unexpectedly land on our feet.

The Love of Bast Sunshine settles soft on my shoulders Pain and weariness fade forgotten I feel warm light healing me My heart is full with love and joy Words tumble in a waterfall And still fail to express it
I am alive I am loved by the sun and the wind By the earth and the sky I can run, race out to the stars and back again And still not reach the end of joy
Impoverished, I am never poor In solitude, I am never alone I am never forsaken For I have the love of Bast Who reminds me of Her presence With a touch to the shoulder

Mother The green of fields When harvest is before us The sound of water singing When the flood of life is new The warm sun upon my skin While I lay beside the river The rich taste of life In the wind and light around me These things bring you to mind
Mother, in the darkness, protect me Bast-Mut, in my joy, smile with me Mother, in sorrow, hold me And in my days stand with me.
The sound of a mother Protecting her children Soothing their fears You fill her throat with the words to say To rebuild the world around them.
Mother, you shine upon us The bells and sistrum sing for you You shine and the ka of the universe warm to your touch Mother, you are the Queen of all good things And the protector of Maat
Oh, blessed Mother, in dark times of the spirit Oh, Bast-Mut, in brilliant times of family Oh, Queen, in everyday acts of dignity Stand with me, give comfort Stand with me, give joy Stand with me, I offer Maat unto You Stand with me, this song is my gift to You
May it please you, May it satisfy You, May it bring You joy As your presence with me gives me all these things and more.

Hymn to Bast Mother of the gods, the One, the Only Mistress of the Crowns thou rulest all. Tearer is Thy name when Thou art wrathful, Bast, beloved, when Thy people call.
Daughter of the Sun with flame and fury Flashing from the crown upon Thy foe Safely sails the Boat with Thy protection Passing scatheless where Thy fires glow.
Daughter of the Sun the burial chamber Lies in darkness till Thy light appears. From Thy Throne of Silence send us comfort, Bast, beloved, banish all our fears.
Mother of the gods no gods existed Till Thou camest there and gave Them life. Skhmt of the Boat the wicked fear Thee Trampling down all evil and all strife.
Mother of the gods, the Great the Loved One Winged and mighty unto Thee we call Naming Thee the Comforter, the Ruler Bast, beloved, Mother of us all.
