My impressions
I never thought Heru-wer would show up as a Beloved, so I was extremely surprised. To me, He was a warrior - and as the ultimate pacifist, it would seem like a cosmic joke on my behalf that He would be my Beloved. ;)
But I've come to think of Him as less of a war netjer, and more of a netjer Who can help you when you're in battle with inner enemies. Low self-esteem and depression can be as frightening or mighty as armies of thousands, and Heru-wer can lend a hand (or wing) to help out in defeating them. That's not saying He'll battle for you, but He'll be in combat with you and watch your six, so to say - you still have to do the work! I think he appreciates effort.
Heru-wer is frequently described as a loving father, and I think that's accurate. Once, when I was really stressed and sad, I had a very clear dream, in which I was embraced tightly by an hawk-headed man that I'm pretty sure was Him. Indeed, Heru-wer is love. ^^
I haven't given His appearance much thought yet, because I'm only just beginning to get to know Him, but I imagine Him as a magnificent falcon or hawk, or a hawk/falcon-headed man with bronze skin, dressed in a white kilt with golden details.
I feel that He looks after me and smiles at me, and in recent years I've seen so many birds of prey in random places that it's hard not to think of Him! I'm still unsure of what He wants with me, but He is most certainly there, offering His protection and strength.
